One of my favorite things to make with essential oils is lip balm! My kids love it and I know it’s safe for them to use. Have you ever looked at the ingredients in your lip balm? Some brands can make your lips feel even drier and as a result, you’ll want to apply more often. Here are a few ingredients to avoid: parabens, fragrance, artificial flavors, petrolatum (petroleum jelly), and butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA). Google these ingredients and avoid buying products that contain them.
Lip balm is easy to make. You can make around 14 tubes in about 5 minutes! This recipe is free of harmful ingredients and is so cheap to make. Lip balm makes a nice addition to any gift and since this makes several at a time you can always have them on hand.
Here are links to the ingredients I use.
For this recipe, I use 2 vitamin E oil
Chapstick Tubes this recipe makes between 14-18 tubes. You can buy this set that will make pouring a little easier if you prefer.
Lip Balm
Ingredients
- 1/4 Cup Bee’s wax
- 20 Drops Essential Oil (Peppermint and Lavender are nice)
- 8 Drops Vitamin E Oil
- 1/4 Cup Coconut Oil
- 20 Chapstick Tubes
Instructions
- Melt beeswax and coconut oil on the stove. Then add vitamin E oil. Stir it all together and remove from heat. Add essential oil and stir. I like to pour this mixture into a heated glass measuring cup with a spout. You can warm it in the microwave for a few seconds. This helps the mixture to stay warm while you pour it into the tubes. Pour the mixture in the tubes. That’s it!
